One of my favorite spots in Austin is the top level of this parking structure located across the street from the Austin Capitol building. Its location is the perfect vantage point for taking in all the rich history and beauty of Austin; from the architectural awe where our state’s politics are conducted in, to the hustle and bustle of downtown, to the incredible sunsets over Lake Austin. It’s nice sometimes to just be above it all. And I don’t mean that in an egocentric way, but more of an enlightened, really soak it all up kind of way. I’m not exaggerating when I say that sometimes I’m truly at a loss for words in describing how in love I am with Austin. I moved here without ever having visited because my Uncle convinced me that it was the city I belonged to. I don’t think at the time that he even knew how right he was. Austin has given me so many gifts in way of friendships, adventures, and sheer awe over the physical and spiritual beauty the trees, the water and the air radiates. I only wish that everyone could be as blessed as I am, and so I always try and take a moment (especially in places like this parking structure) to stop and just say, “Thank you, thank you, thank you”.
