It’s been far too long since I last posted but it’s also been a while since Austin saw clear, blue skies! For those of you who don’t live in the Midwest or more specifically, Texas, I’m sure you saw on the national news how incredibly gnarly the storms were here. To make matters worse, it pretty much rained for the entire month of May, so that ruined any longboarding plans I made….and we’re not talking light Los Angeles, June-gloom rainfall either – think more Arizona monsoon season but on steroids and with tornados. It’s been difficult for a lot of the people who’ve lost their homes and family members, but humans never cease to amaze me in how they come together to help those in the wake of devastation. So many Texans offered up their homes to foster pets who needed to get out of a flooded shelter, donated food & clothing, and donated their time to help the American Red Cross collect donations so that we can rebuild the communities that were destroyed. The day we shot this set was the first time we had seen sun in what felt like forever, and it was a reminder that every storm (metaphorical or otherwise), no matter how severe, will eventually pass. Regardless, we all need to watch out for one another. See y’all next week. xo
